Collectors MD To Be Featured In Inaugural Issue Of Foundations: The Collector’s Magazine

Presented By Foundations: The Collector’s Magazine

Collectors MD is proud to announce a new partnership with Foundations: The Collector’s Magazine, an independent print publication dedicated to celebrating collector culture, personal stories, nostalgia, and the shared experiences that connect collectors across different hobbies and communities.

As part of the magazine’s inaugural issue, Collectors MD will be featured across five printed pages, including a three-page article written by Founder Alyx Effron and an exclusive two-page spread highlighting Collectors MD and its #RipResponsibly initiative.

The article, titled “When Collecting Stops Feeling Like a Hobby”, explores the emotional connections people develop with their collections, the changing landscape of modern collecting, and the importance of recognizing when spending or participation begins creating financial, emotional, or relational challenges.

Drawing from lived experience and the work being done through Collectors MD, the article introduces readers to the organization’s mission of promoting intentional collecting, raising awareness around compulsive behaviors, and connecting individuals and families with education, peer support, and professional resources.

The accompanying two-page spread highlights Collectors MD, its mission to provide free peer support meetings, education, practical tools, and pathways to professional care for individuals struggling with compulsive collecting and overspending, alongside the work of the CMD Foundation to keep these resources accessible. It also showcases #RipResponsibly, an industry-wide initiative encouraging collectors, creators, shops, breakers, manufacturers, marketplaces, and platforms to promote responsible participation and protect the long-term health of the collecting community.

This exclusive two-page spread, featured in the inaugural print issue of Foundations: The Collector’s Magazine, highlights Collectors MD‘s mission, our #RipResponsibly, initiative, peer support meetings and educational resources available to collectors, and the work of The CMD Foundation to promote healthier, more intentional collecting.

Celebrating Collector Culture While Encouraging Important Conversations

Founded by Albert Myles Mejia, Foundations was created to celebrate the stories, personalities, and experiences that define collecting across sneakers, trading cards, action figures, memorabilia, and other collectible categories.

Unlike traditional hobby publications focused on a single category, Foundations explores the shared passion that connects collectors, regardless of what they collect.

The magazine also represents a return to something increasingly uncommon in today’s digital-first world: a premium physically printed publication that collectors can hold, read, display, and preserve.

Its inaugural issue brings together stories and perspectives from across the collecting community, combining nostalgia, creativity, personal experiences, and industry culture.

For Collectors MD, the opportunity to contribute represents a meaningful step toward bringing conversations about behavioral health, financial wellness, and responsible collecting into spaces where collectors already engage.

Collecting can provide tremendous enjoyment, connection, and personal meaning. Recognizing the challenges that some collectors experience does not diminish those positive qualities. Instead, it creates opportunities to protect them.

That shared understanding is what makes the collaboration especially meaningful.

The opening page of “When Collecting Stops Feeling Like a Hobby” explores the emotional connection between collectors and their collections, the evolving pressures of modern collecting, and the warning signs that a once-enjoyable hobby may be becoming harmful.

A Partnership Built Around The Collector

The relationship between Collectors MD and Foundations began with a conversation about the common ground between two seemingly different perspectives: celebrating the culture of collecting and helping people recognize when their relationship with the hobby may be changing.

Both organizations share an appreciation for the nostalgia, relationships, creativity, and personal stories that make collecting meaningful.

Through this collaboration, Foundations is helping introduce Collectors MD‘s resources to a broader audience while creating space for discussions that are often overlooked within traditional hobby media.

The partnership also opens the door to future editorial contributions, educational content, and opportunities to continue promoting healthier engagement across collecting communities.

Collectors MD extends its sincere appreciation to Albert and the Foundations team for recognizing the importance of these conversations and generously providing space for both the article and two-page spread in the publication’s first issue.

We are excited to be part of Volume One and look forward to sharing the finished physical magazine with our community once it is released later this month.

The concluding two pages of “When Collecting Stops Feeling Like a Hobby” explore how Collectors MD bridges the gap between collecting communities and behavioral health resources, emphasizing intentional collecting, early intervention, peer support meetings, industry responsibility, and the role of #RipResponsibly in protecting the long-term well-being of collectors.
